In order to successfully utilize web (HTTP/HTTPS) monitoring checks, it is important to understand which port should be used. Port 80 is the default port for HTTP web traffic to send and receive packets over the Internet. For HTTPS traffic, the default port is port 443, which uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. This port is necessary for sites that are using SSL encryption to secure their data. It is vital to make sure that the correct port is being used when setting up web (HTTP/HTTPS) monitoring checks, as this will ensure that the check is sending and receiving the correct data.
