Missing nameservers

Missing nameservers reported by parent

Two major warnings may occur when you configure a domain name and а DNS zone for it. One of the them is "Missing nameservers reported by parent". Now the main question is what is parent? Well, at the domain name registrar you have to point your domain name to a specific set of name servers e.g. dns1.cloudns.net, dns2.cloudns.net, etc. When you set these name servers, you tell the domain name registrar who is responsible for the DNS zone and records for this domain name and the domain name registrar tells this to the TLD server (parent). Afterwards, you have to create a Master DNS zone for the domain name with NS records in the DNS zone. The NS records must exactly match the name servers, your domain name is pointed to and the current name servers responsible for the DNS zone. Let's say you have access to dns1.cloudns.net, dns2.cloudns.net, dns5.cloudns.net and dns6.cloudns.net. Your domain name must be pointed only to these name servers. In your Master DNS zone, the NS records should be:

example.com NS dns1.cloudns.net
example.com NS dns2.cloudns.net
example.com NS dns5.cloudns.net
example.com NS dns6.cloudns.net

In case you have NS records in the DNS zone for all 4 name servers, but your domain name is pointed to 2 or 3 of them, you will get "Missing nameservers reported by parent". It happens, because parent (TLD server) registers that your domain name is not pointed to all name servers, that exist in your DNS zone. This might cause troubles in domain name resoluiton in specific situations. To avoid or fix this warning, make sure the name servers at the domain name registrar and your NS records match and they are exactly the same.

Stealth NS records sent

This warning is pretty much the same as "Missing nameservers reported by parent". It might also cause troubles in domain name resoluiton in specific situations. To avoid or fix this warning, make sure the name servers at the domain name registrar and your NS records match and they are exactly the same.

Missing nameservers reported by your nameservers

This warning is exactly the opposite of Missing nameservers reported by parent. It occurs, if your domain name is pointed to name servers, which do not exist in your DNS zone as NS records. Let's say that you have access to dns1.cloudns.net, dns2.cloudns.net, dns5.cloudns.net and dns6.cloudns.net and your domain name is pointed to all of them. If the NS records in your DNS zone are:

example.com NS dns1.cloudns.net
example.com NS dns2.cloudns.net
example.com NS dns6.cloudns.net

you will get the warning "Missing nameservers reported by your nameservers". This might also cause troubles in domain name resoluiton in specific situations. To avoid or fix this warning, make sure the name servers at the domain name registrar and your NS records match and they are exactly the same.
